japanese architecture studio SANAA has built a caf?? building on okayama universitya??s tsushima campus. the ‘junko fukutake terracea?? (which is commonly referred to as the ‘J terrace’), is intended to be as accessible as possible, with a sinuous steel roof canopy supported by a series of slender columns. surrounded by glazed walls, the caf?? adjoins a winding sheltered terrace that provides a place for students and visitors to relax outdoors. the scheme? is the third project completed by kazuyo sejima and ryue nishizawa for the institution, joining a pergola on the same site, and the ‘junko fukutake halla?? located on the school’s shikata campus.
